Peterson Air Force Base
Commanded by Colonel Jay Raymond, Peterson is an Air Force Base of the United States of America, located in El Paso County, Colorado. It is home to the 21st Space Wing and it was created in early 1942. The base has played an important role throughout its existence, both as training and missionary base. Its airport is both military and public, but this doesn't affect the general outcome of the base's services. The base's logo features a sword pointed at the sky and many thunder lightings, the symbols of power, determination and strength.
The Peterson AFB is heavily popularized as a result of its active missions both in the field of air combat and air training operations. For example, on the 5th of November 2007 there has been a meeting at the base's HQ to discuss the situation of the service-disabled veterans. The base also conducts a lot of humanitarian actions. In terms of attractions and near-by cities, there isn’t much to be said except from the regular sports facilities, but, Peterson does have a museum very much visited by people all-around the USA. Colorado Springs is the nearest city and it is home to 50,000 people. However, the number of people at the base is not known, nor is the base’s area.
The base's primary mission is to organize worldwide missile warning and space control, fields in which it also trains recruits. The base has been historically important in terms of aiding the overall organization process of the USAF. However, there are many complaints about the housing facilities at the base, as there is no more room to host newcomers.
